Build a personalised curriculum for your child, on almost any topic
Bought curricula assume a standard child moving at a standard pace. If yours is ahead in one subject, behind in another, obsessed with one topic and refuses another, you end up adapting so heavily that you may as well have built it yourself. Building it yourself takes hours you do not have.
Different Drums builds it for you, around the child you actually have.
How it works
- Tell it the topic. Anything: fractions, the Roman Empire, marine biology, personal finance, Norwegian folklore, animal care, coding, or the question your child asked at breakfast.
- Set the length and the child. Its working level per subject, interests, how it learns, and your family’s worldview.
- It builds a structured path with week-by-week checkpoints, goals, activities and materials.
- You follow it, adapt it, or let the tutor explore around it. Progress is tracked and logged as you go.
Structure the skills, not the topic
The commonest failure in interest-led planning is a beautiful twelve-week plan built around an interest that lasts nine days. A curriculum built around skills survives the pivot: negative numbers, percentages, a written explanation and reading a graph carry over from sharks to Ancient Egypt without throwing the plan away.
You can share a curriculum to your child so they see the path themselves, or keep it as your own planning document. Checkpoints can be marked complete, and progress shows as a percentage so you can see where you are.
Your values carry across it
Worldview settings apply per child and follow the curriculum across subjects. A family that wants Biblical framing, a family that wants strictly secular science, and a family somewhere else entirely get genuinely different material on the same topic. None of them gets ours imposed.
Where the practice comes from
Worksheets and tests generated from a curriculum draw on 200,000+ hand-verified questions for arithmetic, maths, calculus, chemistry and physics, so the practice in accuracy-heavy subjects is checked rather than invented. For other subjects the material is generated, and on very niche topics it is worth verifying anything specific.
What it costs
Curriculum building is included in Parent Only, from GBP 9.99 a month, and in Parent + Child. 14 days free, no credit card required.
Common questions
Can I edit what it produces?
Yes. It is a starting point, not a contract. Most parents adjust the first curriculum and then find later ones need less changing as the profile settles.
How long can a curriculum be?
You set the length. Short paths for a single topic and longer multi-week ones for a full term both work. Shorter is usually better to start with, because you learn quickly what suits your child.
Does it match the national curriculum?
It can cover the same ground, but it is not tied to any one national curriculum, which suits families following a different system or none. If you are working towards specific exams, use the specification alongside it, because exam boards test a fixed list.
Learning that flexes around your child
Different Drums builds curricula, worksheets, tests and learning records around almost any topic, shaped to your child's pace, interests and your family's values. Core practice in maths and science comes from 200,000+ hand-verified questions. Ages 2-16+, used by families worldwide.
